1500 km drive and 10 manufactories in 3 days - South India September 6. - 9. 2009

We enjoyed the nature, the animals and the people on our trip. One way by car and the way back to Chennai with the nightbus.

Raja is a good driver, but the Indian trafic is like crazy.... I've never seen anything simular to it in my whole life and I don't know how many times I said "Oh Jesus Krist" on this trip ha ha... Anyway, we got there safe, thank you Raja.. and maybe Jesus too had something to do with it too?! :-))

Bamboo trees which also are jused in organic textile.
Naturally Organic - bamboo is grown without pesticides or fertilisers, unlike conventional cotton which uses 25% of all the worlds’ pesticides less than 10% of the agricultural land mass. Luxuriously soft - bamboo feels like silky cashmere. Sustainable - Moso bamboo is one of the world’s fastest growing plants, growing up to a metre in a day. Bamboo is a grass, so once cut it will regenerate quickly without the need for replanting (in the same way as your garden lawn). It grows very densely and so the yield per acre is excellent in comparison to cotton. Eco-friendly - one of the most positive things about bamboo is that it absorbs 35% more carbon dioxide than equivalent stands of trees. More bamboo would help to cut the globally rising levels of carbon dioxide and help in the fight against global warming. Absorbent - bamboo absorbs up to 60% more water than cotton. This makes it an excellent choice for towels and bathrobes. Breathable - the porous nature of the fibre makes it breathable and extremely comfortable against the skin. Thermo-regulating - keeps the wearer warm in cool weather. Hypoallergenic - bamboo's organic and natural properties make it non-irritating so perfect for extra sensitive skin. You will find high fashion clothing design made of organic bamboo or organic cotton and organic linnen at Carma Shop in Grunerløkka, Oslo www.carmagarments.com

We came across a wedding on our way through a mountain village

Linda Lekven alias "Lindiana Jones"

Our visit to the factories:

Sometimes we have time to eat lunch, but my stomach has a hard time to tolerate the Indian bacteria and spices, so I end up eating a lot of eggs. It will probably grow wings on my back before I come home... he he..

No wonder minimum order is 50 kg fabric pr color, look at this heavy machine they use to color the fabric.
