Our visit to Himalayan Hope / Himalayan Joy Force. Nepal - Namagaon (Pharping), August 24. - 29. 2009.

First of all I will thank Dayan and Suresh for the hospitality and warm welcome I got during my stay at The Himalayan Joy Force fair trade community.

The Himalayan Joy Force
A group of well-meaning capable people with a common consern for humanity have joined forces to help some of the poorest beings living today, the children and people of Nepal. Himalayan Joy Force, a registered NGO in Nepal and Himalaya Support Association in Finland work together to contribute to the "goodwill trend" of benefiting the underprivileged. The team sponsores school fees and educational materials for village children, provide clothes, blankets, medical care and awareness. To shelter the more vulnerable children, a caring home "birds nest" has been established in Pharping village in Katmandu Vally. The children go
to an English medium school, get a nourishing diet and care of our team and a mother. Many more children are in need of support, and with a little help from kind-hearted people much difference can be made in their lives. The Joy Force Team works voluntarily in interests of these children.

The skills of the Joy Force Team are dedicated to create livelihood for socially deprivade young women and men. Variety of hand skills training are given and Fair Trade is organized. No child labour or caste discrimination is practiced where as cultural heritage and spiritual ethics are valued.

Dayan Cutler Basnet is the founder of Himalayan Joy Force. She is the manager of this fair trade community and also a well known designer. You can support the community and buy Dayan's design at Carma Store in Grunerløkka, Oslo among other places in Europe.

The same day as we arrived in Namagaon this brave little girl (5) came in to the medical center with half of her body burned from boiling spirits. Fortunately the community now has a doctor and a medical center to help her with the treatments.

Some of the other kids from the community followed us visitors through the window

During my visit I fell in love with this brave little Angel and I decided to become her sponsor so that she can go to school, get clothes and get 3 free meals everyday. Here you can save a child for just € 50 pr month. If you would like to help a child like Angel in Namagaon community please visit www.himalayanhope.co.uk
